Masala Vadai or Masala Vada Recipe is a part of the full South Indian meals menu. It is also sold on road sides throughout Tamil Nadu as a simple snack. Masala Vada is a simple recipe that can be had as a snack as well as a side dish along with rice, idli or dosa.
Now let us see the Masala Vada recipe:
Ingredients:
- Onion – 1
- Coriander leaves- ½ cup
- Curry leaves – A little
- Oil – for deep frying
- For grinding:
- Channa Dal (kadalai Paruppu) – 1 cup
- Red chili – 5
- Fennel seeds – 1 tsp
- Garlic – 4 Cloves
- Ginger – 1 inch
- Salt – to taste






Method:
Wash and soak the channa dal for 2 hours. Take 2 spoon soaked channa dal and keep aside. Grind the soaked dal, red chili, fennel seeds, garlic, ginger and salt to a coarse paste, without adding water.
Then add chopped onion, chopped coriander leaves, chopped curry leaves and soaked channa dal to the ground dal and mix well.
Heat oil in a pan in medium flame. Wet your palm and take a small ball of the dal mixture, slightly press and make a flattened round shape and drop in the hot oil and deep fry.






Cook both sides until the vada is golden brown and crisp.
Now tasty masala vada is ready.
