Sweet Corn Soup or Sweet Corn Veg Soup is a traditional form of Soup in most Corn abundant areas of Canada and America. The early reference of Sweet Corn Soup or Sweet Corn Veg Soup is found in the English Literatures. As the Corn growing has spread throughout the World the Sweet Corn Soup or Sweet Corn Veg Soup recipes have also crossed boundaries and is now the Top most Soup recipe of the World.
Sweet Corn Soup or Sweet Corn Veg Soup is prepared with little efforts, just Corn from the cob, salt, some vegetables or meat and flour. It was seen more with the tribal Americans and Senaca Indians of the United States. In early 19th Century only the corn distribution started due to the invention of Corn Flakes by Sir Kellogs. Sweet Corn Soup or Sweet Corn Veg Soup can be prepared with minimum effort and minimum ingredients. There numerous variations in every part and every cuisine.
Now let us, how to make Sweet Corn Soup or Sweet Corn Veg Soup – South Indian Style.






Ingredients:
- Sweet corn – ½ cup
- Beans – 2 tblsp (5)
- Cabbage – 2 tblsp
- Carrot – 2 tblsp (1/2)
- Onion – 2 tblsp
- Spring onion – 1 tblsp
- Corn flour – 2 tblsp
- Sugar – 1/2 tsp
- Pepper powder – ½ tsp
- Salt – to taste
- Butter – 1 tsp






Method:
Chop the vegetables finely. Cook sweet corn with salt and required amount of water (one cup).
Heat butter in a pan and sauté onion, beans, carrot and cabbage for a few minutes.
Add this to the cooked sweet corn and allow it to boil till the vegetables gets cooked.
Mix the corn flour with ½ cup of water without lumps. Add this to the boiling soup and stir continuously.
Boil till the soup comes to the transparent stage. Add required amount of pepper powder,sugar, salt and spring onion and serve.



Note:
If you want your soup rich, you can add fresh cream and milk.
Always use white pepper powder for soups.It gives nice aroma and good taste. I have no white pepper while making this soup.
You can use oil instead of butter, but butter gives the soup nice flavour.
If you want soup thick you can add more corn flour.
