Sambar recipe is a common and essential recipe in South India.We can make sambar in different types. Here is a simple and quick Sorakkai Sambar recipe.


Ingredients:
- Sorakkai- 1 cup chopped
- Small onion- 10
- Tomato- 1
- Tuvar dhal- 1 cup
- Turmeric powder- 1/2 teaspoon
- Tamarind- Small lime size
- sambar podi- 2 teaspoon
- Salt- To taste
- Oil- 2 to 3 teaspoon
- Curry leaves – few
- Mustard- 1/2 teaspoon
- Urad dhal- 1/2 teaspoon
- Asafoetida- 1/4 teaspoon
- Fenugreek- 1/4 teaspoon
- Cumin – 1/4 teaspoon

Method:
Pressure cook tuvar dhal with turmeric powder and required amount of water. Peel and chop surakkai into small cubes. Chop onion and tomato.
Heat oil in a pan add mustard, urad dhal, cumin, fenugreek, asafoetida, curry leaves. Add surakkai, onion, tomato and sauté for few minutes.
Soak tamarind for ten minutes in required water and extract the pulp. Add sambar podi, salt and tamarind pulp and pressure cook for about one sound.
Open the cooker and boil for some time. serve with rice.



Note:
You can use any veggies of your choice.
You can serve with rice, idli or dosa.
