Onion Raita is yoghurt based side dish suitable for all spicy and heavy meal main dishes, such as biryanis or pulaos. Onion Raita is a good savored dish accompaniment, which makes you eat more and reduces the heaviness in the stomach, due to its cooling effect.
Now a day’s many restaurants do not give this Onion Raita with dishes like Biryani or Pulao.
Onion Raita is made up of onions, yoghurt, green chillies etc,. Onion Raita is also made with a lot of variations, by including other vegetables like tomato, cucumber, carrot etc,. Sometimes some spices are also added to make it tastier.
Onion Raita goes well with any Biryani, be it mutton, chicken or just vegetable.
Now let us see how to make Onion Raita
Ingredients:
- Onion – 1 big
- Green chilli – 1
- Coriander – 2 tblsp
- Salt – to taste
- Roasted cumin powder – ¼ tsp (optional )
- Fresh curd – 1 cup
Method:
Chop onion, green chilli and coriander finely.
Add onion, green chilli, coriander, salt and cumin powder in the vessel and mix well. Then add curd and mix thoroughly.




Note:
In the same method you can make cucumber or carrot raita.
If you want you can fry mustard in one teaspoon oil and add to the raita.
