Nei Kadalai Recipe Chatpata dalNellikai is known as Amla in Hindi, Gooseberry in English. It is rich in vitamin c. It is good for diabetic people. Regular intake of nellikai controls blood sugar level.
Last year Pudhiya Thalaimurai TV channel came and ask me to do two recipes in nellikkai. I did nellikkai thuvaiyal and nellikkai pachadi. At the end of this recipe i attach the video.
Though Amla is considered nutritious many find it difficult to consume them especially when it is unripe. It is very sour and no one can take more than one or two. Today we will see some easy, useful and tasty recipes out of this Nellikai.
Coming to Nellikai we will see five recipes which are suitable for the ensuing summer.
- Nellikai Syrup – Amla Juice
- Nellikai Halwa or Jam
- Nellikai Thokku
- Nellikkai Thuvaiyal
- Nellikkai Pachadi


Ingredients
- Nellikai – 3
- Greenchilly – 2
- Coconut – 2 teaspoon
- Curd – 1 small cup
- Salt – To taste
- Mustard – ¼ teaspoon
- Asafoetida – 1 pinch
- Gingelly oil – 1 teaspoon


Method:
Steam cook Nellikai in the idli pan.
Deseed nellikkai. Grind Nellikkai, green chillies, coconut, salt in a mixie coarsely.
Add curd in this mixture and mix well.
Heat oil in a pan and add mustard and asafoetida.
When they crackle add it to the pachadi.



Note:
You can add turmeric powder while grinding the nellikai.
You can cook nellikai in water also.
