Methi Roti is a good and easy dinner recipe. Methi is known as venthaya keerai in Tamil. It is good for health. It cools the body heat. It is good for diabetic Patients too. Dried methi is known as kasoori methi. It gives nice aroma to the dish and enhance the flavor. Regular intake of methi will control the sugar level.
Let us see how to make Methi Thepla or Methi Roti
- Wheat – 2 cups
- Methi leaf – 1 cup
- Red chilli powder – ½ tsp
- Turmeric powder – ½ tsp
- Cumin powder – ½ tsp
- Coriander seed – 1 tsp
- Salt – to taste
- Water – ¾ cup
Clean venthaya keerai and chop finely. Crush coriander seed in the pestle and mortar.
Add venthaya keerai, Red Chilli powder, turmeric powder, cumin powder, coriander seed ans salt in a bowl and mix it well. Add water little by little and knead into a smooth dough.Make medium size ball out of it.
Make roti using rolling pin. Heat non stick pan and cook the roti both sides well with little oil
I served methi roti with Kadai Paneer.
Plain curd and Pickle is a good combination of Methi Roti.
Two types of vendaya keerai is in market. You can use both the type for this recipe.
If the dough is watery you can add wheat flour or dust wheat flour and make Paratha.
