Kadalai paruppu is known as Bengal gram dal or channa dal. This dal is also good for making sundal. I am adding another sundal recipe to the Navaratri sundal collection.


Ingredients
- Kadalai paruppu – 1 cup
- Grated coconut – 3 tablespoon
- Salt – To taste
- Oil – 2 teaspoon
- Mustard – 1/2 teaspoon
- Urad dal – 1/2 teaspoon
- Red chilli – 1
- Green chilli -2
- Ginger – 1 inch
- Asafoetida – 1 pinch
- Curry leaves – few

Method
Soak Kadalai paruppu for half an hour. Then cook Kadalai paruppu in the pressure cooker and drain the water completely. Peel ginger. Chop green chilli and ginger finely. Heat oil in a pan and add mustard, urad dal, red chilli, asafoetida, green chilli and ginger and curry leaves. When they crackle add cooked Kadalai paruppu, grated coconut stir well and serve.



Note:
You can add finely chopped coriander also.
Don’t overcook the channa dal.
Add a pinch of asafoetida while cooking the dal, enhance the flavor of sundal.
