Vella Seedai is prepared as a regular sweet by all tamils. There are many variations and some add sugar and the others jiggery or karuppatti. In chettinad this particular recipe is called as karuppatti seedaikkai. This I shall post later when I make it.
Now for the gokulashtami I have tried out vella seedai. You can also try and make this wonderfully tasty recipe.

Ingredients:
- Raw rice flour – 1 cup
- Urad dal flour – 2 tsp
- Butter – 1 tblsp
- Sesame seed – ½ tblsp
- Jaggery – ¾ cup
- Coconut – 1 tblsp
- Cardamom powder – 2 pinch
- Water – 2 tblsp
- Oil – for frying

Method:
Add jaggery and water in a pan and boil till the jaggery melts. Strain the jaggery syrup and keep aside. Mix all the ingredients in a bowl. Add jaggery syrup little by little and make a smooth dough. Make marble size balls out of it. Heat oil in a frying pan and add the seedai in batches. Stir often. Fry all the sides in to golden brown till the shhh sound subsides. Store it the air tight container and use it for 15 days.

Note:
Add jaggery syrup little by little while kneading the dough.
Don’t add more water while making the jaggery syrup.
Crack will appear while frying the seedai (don’t bother), then only seedai will tastes good.
