Chow Chow is another common vegetable that is available all round the year. The recipes which can be made with Chow Chow are the Chow Chow Sambar and Chow Chow Kootu. Here is the Chow Chow kootu recipe which is an important and simple yet tasty recipe in the South Indian meals menu.
Now let us see the Chow Chow Kootu Recipe
Ingredients:
- Chow chow – 2 cup chopped
- Small onions – 4
- Moong dal – ¼ cup
- Turmeric powder – ¼ tsp
- Salt – to taste
- For grinding
- Coconut grated – 3 tbsp
- Green chili – 2
- Cumin seeds – 1 tsp
- For seasoning
- Oil – 1 tsp
- Mustard, urad dal – 1 tsp
- Curry leaves – A little






Method:
Add chopped chow chow, moong dal (soaked), small onions, and turmeric powder cook for a few minutes in a pressure cooker. Blend all the ingredients mentioned under grinding in a blender and make a smooth paste. Then open the pressure cooker and add the blended paste. And add salt to taste and bring to a boil till it is done.



Heat oil in a pan and add the seasoning ingredients, and add to the kootu and mix well and turn off the stove.
Now the tasty chow chow kootu is ready.
