Cabbage is a common vegetable that is available throughout the year and is very economical too. Cabbage is one vegetable that can be used without much of wastage.
The two most common and important cabbage recipes that are often prepared in South Indian homes are the Cabbage Poriyal and the Cabbage Kootu. Here is the simple Cabbage poriyal recipe that can be also called the Cabbage stir fry. The recipe is simple and tasty.
Now let us see the simple Cabbage Poriyal Recipe:
Ingredients:
- Cabbage – 200 gram
- Onion – 1
- Green chilli – 1
- Coconut (grated) – 2 tbsp
- Salt – To taste
- Coriander leaves – A few
- For Seasoning
- Oil – 2 tbsp
- Mustard, Urad dal, Cumin – 1/4 tsp each
- Curry leaves – A few









Method:
Remove the upper most layers or top leaves of the cabbage and chop finely and wash well. Peel the onion and Chop. Slit the green chillies.
Heat oil in a pan on medium flame and add all the ingredients one by one given for seasoning, then add the chopped onions and sauté and add the shredded cabbage. Then add salt to taste and mix well.




Then close the pan with a lid and allow it to cook. Add grated fresh coconut and add some coriander leaves when cooked, then mix well. Switch off the flame.Now the tasty cabbage poriyal ready.
