Arisi Payasam recipe Rice Payasam recipe

I made Arisi Payasam for Aadi Velli. Aadi Velli is auspious day for ladies. They wear Pattu saree and will go to Amman Temple for all the five fridays in the month. Some women light Maavilakku in the Amman temples. Now let us see the recipe

Ingredients:

  • Raw rice – 2 tblsp
  • Milk – ½ litre
  • Sugar – ½ cup
  • Ghee – 1 tsp
  • Cashew – 10
  • Dry grapes – 10
  • Saffron – few strands
  • Cardamom powder – ¼ tsp

Method:

Wash the rice and soak for half an hour. Cook rice in the milk. When the rice is cooked well mash it with a ladle. Add sugar and stir. When the sugar melts add cardamom powder. Heat ghee in a small pan and fry cashews and dry grapes. Add it to the payasam. Sprinkle saffron and serve hot or cold.

Note:
If you want you can add water also.
You can cook in the pressure cooker also.
If you want you can grind the rice and cook.
